Facebook’s Messenger app passes 800 million users

Facebook Inc's Messenger app surpassed 800 million users, the company said on Thursday, making it the fastest-growing app of 2015 according to research firm Nielsen. The means Messenger, which Facebook created as a standalone app in 2014, has more active monthly users than rivals Snapchat and Viber, but still lags the 900 million using WhatsApp, also owned by Facebook. Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, an Indian state-owned telecommunications company is back on track for recovery with Rs 672-crore operating profit in 2014-15 and is likely to report the first net profit in the last nine years within 2018, communications minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said. The company’s income from services grew 4.16% to 27,242 crore in 2014-15, the highest in the last five years.
