Ixigo Launched Reverse Bidding Model for Outstation Cabs

Cab and taxi booking service provider Ixigo cabs recently introduced outstation cab bookings by building a marketplace of inter-city cab aggregators and vendors with a unique reverse bidding model. Inter-city commuters will no longer have to deal with calling up multiple intercity cab vendors as over 250 of them will compete internally, getting you the lowest possible fare in under 120 seconds. A flurry of complaints from Uber drivers about an unusually high number of canceled bookings was the spark that ignited a bitter legal fight with Ola, Uber's rival for dominance of India's $12 billion taxi market, according to court documents and a source with direct knowledge of Uber's case. A seven-member internal team was set up to investigate the drivers' complaints in November, and its findings are the basis of a lawsuit filed by Uber accusing Ola of a campaign to disrupt its business and poach its drivers, said the source. Auto and Taxi Unions to Protest Against App-Based Services

A section of auto and taxi unions will take out a protest march today against app-based taxi services in the national capital. "Hundreds of auto rickshaw and taxi drivers will take out a protest march with their vehicles from Samatha Sthal to Delhi Secretariat tomorrow," Rajendra Soni, general secretary of auto and taxi unions, said. He said that for the last two months, they have been demanding the government to control app-based taxi services who are taking away their livelihood. Uber co-founder Travis Kalanick to offer start-up tips at IIT-B on January 19

Uber co-founder and CEO Travis Kalanick will be in Mumbai next week to address students of IIT-Bombay and share his own success story. Kalanick, on his maiden trip to India, is among other top executives who will be in town to take part in the government's Start-up India event scheduled for January 16. He will be sharing the stage with over 40 CEOs and founders of start-ups, including SoftBank's Masayoshi Son, at IIT-B, one of the country's premier centres for start-up incubation. Kalanick will be addressing the students on January 19.
