Switch Mobility, the electric vehicle division of Ashok Leyland, unveiled India's first electric double decker AC bus. These buses will replace the existing double-decker fleet of the BEST (Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport) in Mumbai. As of now, Switch is operating its twin-floor electric AC buses in the UK. Switch India has already secured an order of 200 electric double-decker buses in Mumbai and is looking at a dominant space in the electric double-decker segment, across key regions in the country, the company said. Delhi Govt Notifies App-Based Premium Bus Services

The Delhi government has notified the app-based Premium Bus services starting from June 1 which will enable people to book their seats in buses through their smartphone on the lines of app-based taxis services in the national capital. Only air-conditioned buses will ply under the scheme according to which one bus aggregator will have to run at lease 50 vehicles to get a licence from Delhi governments Transport department. SHIMLA- Himachal Pradesh will soon be the first state in India to introduce inter-state zero-emission electric buses. The Central government sanctioned Rs 35 crore for the project and the process of tender has started. We will receive funds to introduce environment friendly electric bus service. Charging stations will be set up at bus stands soon,said Transport Minister GS Bali. The Government of India is to pay 75% of the funds for the project with the state to cover 25%. However, the state government wants the Centre to pay 90% and will take it up with the Union government. We believe that the funds should be sanctioned to us in 90:10 ratio.
