BSNL Launches Prepaid Plan of Rs 75 To Knock Down Reliance Jio

As all the operators are bringing down their tariffs and offering discounts which makes it a win-win situation for the customers. Taking the game one step ahead and In order to compete with rival Reliance Jio, the state-owned telecom operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has launched its 'Jeevitha Prepaid Plan' in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana telecom circle at a price of Rs 75. There is no official word as to whether the data plan will be available in other telecom circles in the country or not. After moving the country with its economic and evergreen consumer products, Yog guru Baba Ramdev's Patanjali has marked a debut in the telecom sector. Patanjali has launched a Swadeshi Samriddhi SIM card in collaboration with Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) at an event witnessing inaugural by Baba Ramdev. Going in with the soft launch, only the employees and office bearers of Patanjali will be able to avail the benefits of the SIM card. Vodafone and BSNL Go toe-to-toe with Jio’s New Rs 349 Plan

Since Jio’s entry in the Indian telecom market, the competition for the best data plan has been fierce; with ever dropping prices and better data plan deals. Vodafone and BSNL, two major competitors of Mukesh Ambani’s telecom company have announced a new prepaid plan, priced at Rs 349 each. Vodafone subscribers will benefit from 3GB of 4G/3G data per day, unlimited local, STD and roaming calls, and 100 SMS messages per day for the duration of 28 days. As for BSNL users, they will benefit from 1GB data and 100 SMS everyday but for 54 days. State-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) today said it will look into allegations of irregularity in award of network equipment tender to US tech giant Cisco in 2014. Reports said BSNL tender norms for procuring IP-MPLS equipment for the Network for Spectrum (NFS) project were allegedly tweaked to so that the Rs 2,000 crore contract went to US giant. "Prima facie there is no substance to the allegations, but since the reports have come we will look into the matter once again. Incumbent telecom operators Bharti Airtel and Idea Cellular today made an attempt to match free 4G service of Reliance Jio by launching two identical schemes offering free calls and limited mobile internet use priced at around Rs 150 and Rs 350 with 28 days validity. To match Jio unlimited calling plan, Airtel and Idea today announced scheme priced at Rs 345 and Rs 348 respectively that will allow their customers to make unlimited calls to any network in the country. Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad today said the Centre plans to launch Postal Payments Bank in September with the aim to make it the world's largest bank. "I had plans to launch the proposed Postal Payments Bank, which can be described as moving ATM, in next three years but when the proposal was taken up in the cabinet, I was asked to introduce it by September 17," the Union Telecommunication and IT Minister said at a Vikas Parv function here. The minister said the officials of the department have been directed to initiate necessary steps to launch it by September 16/17. As the government's rural broadband project is facing long delays, telecom PSU BSNL is testing an alternative Wi-Fi-based network to connect about 1 lakh village panchayats in a year with high-speed Internet. "The process of laying fibre network calls for huge amount of physical labour. We have started a pilot to test broadband connectivity to village panchayats using Wi-Fi network. With this we are hopeful of connecting about 1 lakh village panchayats in a year," BSNL Chairman and Managing Director Anupam Shrivastava told PTI. BSNL Revenue : Rs 672-crore operating profit in 2014-15, first Net profit by 2018

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, an Indian state-owned telecommunications company is back on track for recovery with Rs 672-crore operating profit in 2014-15 and is likely to report the first net profit in the last nine years within 2018, communications minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said. The company’s income from services grew 4.16% to 27,242 crore in 2014-15, the highest in the last five years.
