BMW Launches Online Ride-hailing Service in China

The BMW-owned car-sharing service called ReachNow has reportedly launched a ride-hailing service in Chengdu, capital of Southwest China's Sichuan province, on Friday. The move makes BMW the first foreign enterprise given the green light for online ride-hailing operation in China. Aiming at the huge high-end online car-hailing market, the company stated that a fleet of 200 BMW 5 Series models had hit the road in Chengdu at the preliminary stage, and half of the vehicles were plug-in hybrid ones. German automaker BMW and Chinese internet giant Baidu will end their joint research on self-driving cars, executives for the two firms said on Friday, with Baidu now searching for new global research partners. Ola Ties Up With BMW, Expands On Demand Luxury Ride Service

Leading taxi-hailing app Ola on Monday partnered with luxury car maker BMW, which the two companies claimed will go a long way in redefining on-demand luxury mobility in India. Ola claims it has around half a million drivers on its platform and the service, Ola Lux, is available in Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru to begin with, and will shortly commence in Hyderabad. Ola already has tie-ups with luxury car makers Mercedes and Jaguar and also with Mahindra and Tata Motors. Other OEMs like Maruti Suzuki, Toyota and Nissan also have such association with aggregators.
