NEW DELHI, India, Oct. 28, 2020 -- After closing its services in India Harley-Davidson tie-up with Hero MotoCorp, the world’s largest maker of motorcycles and scooters in terms of unit volumes for selling its bikes in India. Hero MotoCorp sets up R&D centre in Germany

Two-wheeler major Hero MotoCorp  Wednesday announced setting up of its first research and development (R&D) center near Munich in Germany. A wholly-owned subsidiary of Hero MotoCorp Ltd, Hero Tech Center Germany GmbH, is located at Stephanskirchen near Munich. It will operate in tandem with Hero's Global R&D hub, the Center of Innovation and Technology (CIT) in Jaipur, the company said in a statement. Delhi Govt Puts on Hold Bike-Taxi and Rent-a-Bike Schemes

The city government has put on hold its bike-taxi and rent-a-bike schemes after authorities in Gurgaon and Bengaluru launched a crackdown over rampant violations in their operations. The AAP government had in February last year approved the rent-a-bike scheme but not notified it. It was aimed at providing last mile connectivity to tourists and individual in the city. The Bike-taxi scheme was, however, under consideration. "In Gurgaon and Benguluru, operators of rent-a-bike and bike-taxi schemes were running private vehicles which is in violation of rules. Only commercial vehicles are allowed under the scheme," said a senior official. Is Bike Taxi Services ‘Safe’ for Women in India?

Operators of bike-taxis, which have over the past few months been emerging as viable, convenient and low-cost solutions for travel in the city, are now looking to attract more women riders to use the service. "We have around 400 mandatory steps that the driver needs to pass. We take a ride test and a third party does all the verification plus there are vehicle instructions and mandatory training," says Aarvind Sanka, co-founder of Rapido, an app based service .
