Indian Government Launch Exclusive Scheme For Women Entrepreneurs

The Indian Government would shortly launch an exclusive scheme for women entrepreneurs, a senior official in the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) said today. "It will be an exclusive scheme for women entrepreneurs. We have not yet finalised the contours (of the scheme). Hopefully, we will launch it before the end of the financial year," B H Anil Kumar, a Joint Secretary in the Ministry, told reporters here. Delhi-NCR Emerged as The Top Job Creator City in January-March: Report

Delhi-NCR emerged as the top job creator among eight major cities in January-March, generating over 2.6 lakh new employment opportunities in the period, says a report. A total of 8.5 lakh jobs were created in eight major cities across the country, the report said. "Delhi-NCR emerged on top with over 2.6 lakh new jobs created during January to March 2016 followed by Bangalore (1.9 lakh), Mumbai (1.5 lakh), Chennai (82,200) and Hyderabad (60,000). About 88.9 per cent of job openings have been recorded in these top five cities," the report by Assocham said. Gujarat, Maharashtra Together Contribute 46 Percent To India’s Exports: Report

According to an ASSOCHAM study on 'Export Performance of States', the analyzed data between 2007-08 and 2014-15 reports that Gujarat and Maharashtra account for more than 46 percent of the merchandise consignments from the country and with the addition of three next best performing sources of shipments, the top five states claim over 69 per cent of India's entire export earnings. While Gujarat and Maharashtra have been vying for the top spot, the latter became the best performing states shipping goods worth USD 72.83 billion in 2014-15. Smartphone Sales To Shoot Up To 160 Million By 2017: ASSOCHAM

The ASSOCHAM has in its study pointed out that sales of smartphones in the country are set to shoot up to 160 million in fiscal year 2017 from 100 million this year on the back of prices becoming affordable for a larger number of people. It said that the in-built camera, other internet-enabled features, coupled with replacement of ordinary phones with the smart devices at a rapid pace were few of the reasons. In the wake of an unprecedented surge in e-commerce, shopping malls already under huge pressure due to large vacant spaces are expected to see a sharp decline in the footfalls could be to the extent of 55.58 per cent during the ongoing festive season this year, reveals an ASSOCHAM recent survey.
