Saudi Prince Invested $62 Million Dollar in Middle East Based Taxi Aggregator Careem

Kingdom Holding Company (KHC) chaired by HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Alsaud, acquired a 7% stake in ride hailing service Careem through a Secondary Share purchase as well as participating in the latest Round E funding to a total transaction value of $62M. The transaction makes KHC one of the largest holders of Preferred Shares in Careem and will grant KHC a board seat on Careem's board of directors. KHC's CEO Eng. The telecom regulator Trai today launched a new app that would enable subscribers to rate the quality of a phone call. The new MyCall app, along with updated and enhanced versions of MySpeed app and Do Not Disturb app are amongst a slew of web initiatives unveiled by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) today. "As the mobile subscriber base increases, it is important that we continue to get feedback from the customers. Uber Will Hire Indian Techies For Its Engineering Center

US-based cab aggregator Uber is hiring more techies for its engineering centres in the country as it looks to roll out more innovations from India in areas like payments, bookings and rider and driver experience. The company is also in discussion with National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) to enable customers pay for rides using UPI. "We are hiring rapidly. Russias telecoms watchdog has blocked Chinas popular messaging app WeChat for failing to fulfil the countrys Internet regulations. Watchdog Roskomnadzor has listed WeChat, developed by Tencent Technology, on the register of prohibited websites, South China Morning Post reported today. Indian Space Agency ISRO Develops “Solar Calculator” Android App

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) today said its Ahmedabad-based Space Applications Centre has developed an android app for computing the solar energy potential of a place. Developed at the behest of the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, the app is considered to be a "very useful" tool for installation of photovoltaic (PV) solar panels that is used for tapping solar energy, it said. BHIM App Reaches Near 20 Million Downloads

Indigenous digital payments app BHIM has recorded close to 20 million downloads so far, NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant on Tuesday said. "We have close to 20 million downloads of BHIM app," Kant said at an event here. On December 30, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched the app for fast and secure cashless transactions using mobile phones. BHIM is a platform designed to make payment through UPI and USSD modes simpler. Digital payment channels like mobile wallets, USSD and RuPay have seen massive uptake and rise in transactions post demonetisation.
