Why Restaurant Goers Need Voolsy to Change Their Dining Out Experience

Smit Nebhwani and Amrish Patel, both lovers of good food, always faced some problem or the other when they went dining out with their family or friends. Problems, which we take for granted, but they wouldn’t. Most of the times, eating out doesn’t turn out to be a memorable experience the way it should turn out to be. Many times it happens that waiters are too busy in a rush hour and don’t have time to attend us, and we have to wait till the waiter makes an appearance to take our order. The problems don’t end here. Sometimes, there are no enough menus for all on the table or sometimes we don’t have a clue what a particular dish looks like or the quantity being served. Worst of all, even the waiters have no clue how to answer such questions and are have not been prepared to interact with ...

New System Finds Security Flaws in Popular Web Apps

MIT researchers have developed a system that can quickly comb through tens of thousands of lines of application codes to find security flaws in popular web applications. In tests on 50 popular applications written using Web programming framework Ruby on Rails, the system found 23 previously undiagnosed security flaws, and took no more than 64 seconds to analyse any given programme. According to researchers from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the US, the new system uses a technique called static analysis which seeks to describe in a very general way how data flows through a programme. "The classic example of this is if you wanted to do an abstract analysis of a programme that manipulates integers, you might divide the integers into the positive integers, the negativ...

When We Trended on Twitter By Spending Rs. 200!

I suffer from all sorts of mania — often conflicting, always annoying for others: Chai-o-mania: drinking chai to the point that my stomach cries of acidity. Fitbit-o-mania: completing my daily 8k steps even if that means that I have to run clumsily at 11:45 pm on my arguably fragile terrace. Passion-o-mania: keep talking about that one idea so passionately that everyone around me starts believing in it. List-o-mania: writing everything in the form of lists. And the list goes on!   Some maniacs are short-lived, some last for a few months and some have been there since forever. One such mania is my obsession with lists and striking off an item from the list is my equivalent to the big O. So, it is only right if I say that the bucket list of our one-year-...

Operators of bike-taxis, which have over the past few months been emerging as viable, convenient and low-cost solutions for travel in the city, are now looking to attract more women riders to use the service. "We have around 400 mandatory steps that the driver needs to pass. We take a ride test and a third party does all the verification plus there are vehicle instructions and mandatory training," says Aarvind Sanka, co-founder of Rapido, an app based service . Sanka says 10 per cent of their daily customers are women and the organisation is working on bringing on board more women drivers.
