RBI Launches App For Android, iOS Platforms

The Reserve Bank of India today formally launched a mobile application version of its website on Android and iOS platforms. The application can be downloaded from the Play Store/App Store, using the keyword 'Reserve Bank of India'. To start with, the most accessed sections of the website press releases, IFSC/ MICR codes, bank holidays and current rates including policy rates and reference rate of four major currencies have been made available on the app. "There is a dynamic window on the top of the landing page of the app which alternatingly displays three public awareness messages - the new design currency notes of Rs 2,000 and Rs 500 denominations as well as RBI's message on KYC under the 'RBI Kehta Hai' series," the central bank said. Apple Inc said it plans to offer rewards of up to $200,000 (£152,433) to researchers who find critical security bugs in its products, joining dozens of firms that already offer payments for help uncovering flaws in their products. Such rewards are already offered by dozens of firms, including Facebook Inc, Google, Microsoft Corp, Tesla Motors Inc and Yahoo Inc. Only 3% Mobile App Users in India Spend Money on In-App Purchases

Just about 3.1 per cent of mobile app users in India spend money on in-app purchases compared to 5.2 per cent globally, according to a new report. However, Indian users spend almost as much as global average for in-app buys. "Only 5.2 per cent of users spend money on in-app purchases globally and in India it is 3.1 per cent. The average paying user however spends USD 9.60 in monthly transactions per app with purchase activity globally -- and USD 8.78 in India," said the State of In-App Spending report by AppsFlyer, a mobile marketing attribution analytics company. Reuters- Apple Inc on Tuesday released a version of its virtual personal assistant Siri for Arabic speakers in the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, potentially making its iPhones more attractive in a largely affluent market of more than 30 million people.
