Airtel TV Crosses 50 Million Downloads on Android: Extends Free Subscription

India’s popular Delhi-based telecom company Bharti Airtel has publicized that its Android app called Airtel TV has crossed the milestone of 50 million (5 crores) downloads on the Google Play Store. To acknowledge this success, the company has announced that it will be offering a free subscription to the Airtel mobile customers till 31 December 2018. Earlier, Airtel provided free subscription on Airtel TV app to its customers only till June, but now the time period has been extended till the end of this year. Avast: Android Devices Ship with Pre-Installed Malware “Cosiloon”

World's Major cybersecurity company Avast has reported the presence of pre-installed malware in thousands of Android devices including those from manufacturers like ZTE, Archos and myPhone globally including in India. Dubbed as "Cosiloon", is an adware that creates an overlay to display an advertisement over a webpage within the user's browser, as per a report prepared by Avast Threat Labs. Google is offering security experts a bounty to identify Android app flaws as the Alphabet Inc unit seeks to wipe out bugs from its Google Play store. Indian Space Agency ISRO Develops “Solar Calculator” Android App

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) today said its Ahmedabad-based Space Applications Centre has developed an android app for computing the solar energy potential of a place. Developed at the behest of the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, the app is considered to be a "very useful" tool for installation of photovoltaic (PV) solar panels that is used for tapping solar energy, it said. The ISRO said the app provides monthly and yearly solar  potential and the minimum and the maximum temperatures at any location.
