Breaking: First Indian Airline Which Operates Record 1000 Flights Daily

Budget carrier IndiGo has become the first Indian airline to operate over 1,000 daily flights across its domestic and international network. Besides, the Gurgaon-based airline has also attained a fleet size of 150 aircraft with the induction of one more A320 Neo plane, it said in a release today. The dual feat was achieved on Friday, it said. Flight 6E 185 from Mumbai to Cochin took off on December 22 at 23.15 pm to become 1,000th flight for the first time in the history of Indian civil aviation, the airline said. Bengaluru Airport Rolls Out India’s First e-boarding Facility

Passengers flying out of the Bengaluru airport will now no longer have to stand in long queues for boarding with the aerdrome operator BIAL rolling out an automated boarding process. The facility, e-Gate, enables airline services to integrate DCS (Departure Control System) to an automated boarding gate. The service has been implemented in association with Australia -based Elenium Automation, the budget carrier said. SpiceJet is the first carrier to use the e-boarding facility at the Bengalurus Kempegowda International Airport. Alaska Air Acquired Richard Branson’s Virgin America For Over $2 billion: Sources

Alaska Air Group Inc is nearing a deal to acquire Virgin America Inc, the ninth-largest U.S. airline by passenger traffic, for more than $2 billion, having outbid JetBlue Airways Corp (JBLU.O), people familiar with the matter said on Saturday. The acquisition would herald the first U.S. commercial airline merger since US Airways and American Airlines combined in 2013 to form the world's largest carrier. It would boost the size of Alaska Air's home market by allowing it to expand into lucrative hubs such as San Francisco and Los Angeles.
