Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is working on measures to add extra layer of privacy to Aadhar and hence has come up with an updated "QR code" to hold details like name, address, photo and date of birth that will help in offline user verification without the need of 12 digit ID, as confirmed from the sources. While Aadhar is increasingly becoming popular as a universal national ID, QR code mechanism will further aid in easy offline check while safeguarding user's privacy from any third party theft or misuse of personal information. Soon, Aadhaar Will Be Mandatory For Booking Indian Train Tickets Online

The Railways will soon move towards Aadhaar-based online ticketing system to prevent touts from blocking a bulk of tickets, end fraudulent bookings and curb cases of impersonation. Aadhaar number has been made mandatory for senior citizens to avail concessions in train tickets from April 1. A three-month trial run for this is going on. As per the new business plan 2017-18, unveiled by Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu today, besides the Aadhaar-based ticketing system, the Railways will move towards cashless ticketing system by installing 6,000 point-of-sale machines and 1,000 automatic ticket vending machines across the country. Indian Govt Will Release Aadhaar Linked e-payments App Soon

Government will soon launch a mobile application to facilitate Aadhaar-linked digital payments and roll out a nation-wide programme to train over 1 crore people on e-payments. "We are going to promote Aadhaar-enabled payment system (AEPS) in coordination with Finance Ministry. About 40 crore bank accounts have been linked to Aadhaar," IT and Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad told reporters today. He said that the government is working on a plan to connect rest of the accounts with Aadhaar numbers.
