Three numbers that tell you where Asia’s mobile Internet is going

Is Asia developing towards mobile, or away from it? Three numbers from the Google-TNS Asia Pacific Mobile App Usage Study suggest an answer: as it expands, it will move towards mobile, not away from it. The study asked people from across Asia about how they used their apps, revealing how central mobile has become to Asia’s daily life. And in markets where smartphones are only just becoming mainstream, we can expect that trend to strengthen. We can sum this up in three numbers and two colors in the above chart. As is common in these kinds of surveys, Korea emerges as the smartphone paradise: they have the second highest smartphone penetration in Asia, the third-highest proportion of people who consider the smartphone their main device, and they install the most apps on their phone....

How to do a perfect marketing? Learn from OLA!!

Tow days before when OLA was trending, I thought it might be a marketing gimmick …. Indeed it was!! Great job done by the Marketing team at OLA to seize this opportunity to showcase OlaBoat service as a "Goodwill" gesture and capture top of mind recall within their Customer Base. That’s what I would call a Masters stroke by a relatively new player in the Market flooded with many big brothers (MNC’s) who are often advised by bigger advertising Gurus. I remember the day last year almost same time when Ola’s biggest rival “UBER” was much criticized for employing “surge pricing” during the hostage crisis in Sydney last year. It was an unfortunate event which “UBER” tried to monetize unlike “OLA” who capitalized the opportunity for “Brand Building”.   Continuous rain for...

It seems a comment from Kunal Bahl (CEO, Co-founder of Snapdeal) is true that Snapdeal will become profitable in three years. As per the latest data from a Blog, Snapdeal revenues have increased 5 times. The Blog also revealed that the loss per rupee of revenue earned has also decreased drastically comparison to last year.   Loss per rupee chart: So Snapdeal revenues have been growing multifold every year. Every Valuation round is a multiple of the last one. But what about its losses? The negative point is that revenue for FY 2012-13 was INR 340 million which is a very small scale to be of any use for benchmarking. And the loss at even a scale of INR 1,680 million is twice the revenue.

In India, Use Pocketin For Selecting Restaurants And Request For a Particular Discounts

Why should we just settle for the discounts that the restaurants offer us? Why can’t we demand the discount we think we deserve for the business that we give the restaurants? With this question in mind, the idea of Pocketin was born. In the world of fixed discounts in restaurants, the founders of Pocketin wanted to create a more dynamic ecosystem, where the diners would have a much better deal if they would be visiting on weekday mornings compared to weekends or if they are spending a higher amount. Being big time foodies themselves, Kshitij and Anirudh, two engineering graduates started working on Pocketin, an app where a user can select his favorite restaurants and request for a particular discount from each one of them.
