Top 5 Electric Vehicles to Buy at Auto Expo 2018

Auto Expo 2018 has been more of an Electric Vehicle Expo! Almost every company that participated in the event has announced or showcased its plans for next generation electric vehicles. It is certain that the electric vehicles are the future of transport industry- from motorbikes, scooters, and cars to big trucks.

This years Auto Expo also received a good response from the audience, where Electric Vehicles were quite attractive. Apart from major OEMs like Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, Ashok Leyland, Mahindra & Mahindra and many more, many startups from all across the globe actively participated in the Auto Expo 2018.

“Auto Expo is all about showcasing the new product, technologies and take customer feedback. it will be an interesting show for not just OEMs, supply chain but for customers as well,” told Arun Malhotra, Chairman Auto Expo Committee SIAM in an interview.

This year’s theme of Auto Expo was- “Mobility for All” and focused on technological and futuristic innovations. Amidst all the major car manufacturers, here are some startups that showcased/launched their electric vehicles apart from major car manufacturing companies.

 

Electric Sports Bike by Emflux Motors

Bengaluru based tech startup Emflux Motors has launched India’s first electric sports bike what they call ‘Emflux One’ at the Auto Expo 2018. The bike runs on Samsung Li-ion batteries that includes the Samsung SDi Cells which gives it a 200 km pump without compromising on acceleration and speed.

The bike has grabbed quite an attention and is expected to be available for purchase in the year 2019, priced somewhere between Rs 5.5 lakh to Rs 6 lakh.

 

22Motors- Flow Smart Scooter

Haryana, Manesar based electric two-wheeler maker 22Motors launched its smart electric scooter called ‘Flow’ at Auto Expo 2018. The scooter is expected to be priced around Rs 74,000 and will be rolling out over 2 lakh units in a span of three years.

The smart scooter is AI-enabled and can even be tracked remotely. With its ‘Geo Fencing’ feature it allows security against the vehicle theft and alerts the user when it is beyond the geographical boundaries.

A single charging boost can take you up to 80 kms at a speed of 60kmph and takes around 5 hours to charge completely. The scooter will be available post second quarter of 2018.

 

Menza Motors- Lucat Electric Bike

Menza Motors launched it super customisable and smart electric sports bike- Lucat at the Auto Expo 2018. The bike is company’s first product that has been launched in the Auto Expo 2018. The bike originally is single-seat, but the company also provides an option for two-seat configuration. There’s also option for a carbon-fiber body and a user can select from a wide range of 77 color options.

Overall, everything can be customized in the bike, except for its frame and chassis components. Apart from these, the bike has LED lamps, and power of 18 KW at 3,000rpm. It is equipped with a Li-ion battery of 72V which takes it to 100 kms on a single 4 hour charge. The ex-showroom price of the bike is kept at Rs 2.8 lakh.

 

Okinawa Autotech- Prototype OKI 100 motorcycle

Another startup to make up to the list is Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh based Okinawa Autotech. The startup has launched prototype OKI 100 that claims to go up to 100 kmph and a range of 150 km per charge. The bike is equipped with 72V 63Ah battery that gives it a power of 2.5KW.

 

This motorcycle will be available for purchase by the end of 2018. The motorcycle’s design is seemed to be inspired by Ducati Monster.

Uniti Car – Sweden

Swedish startup Uniti showcased its electric car in the Auto Expo, which was a center of attraction for many spectators, because of its unique design. The Sweden based startup is aiming to sell over 500,00 electric cars in India by 2024. The first five-seater electric car will be launched in India by 2020, priced somewhere around Rs 7.14 lakh.

The startup even gave Auto Expo attendees a VR demonstration of how the 5-seater car will look from inside. The electric car is expected to go as far as 200 kms in a single charge.
