While travelling to & fro from the office & Airports, CA Khushboo Agrawal (Founder – Taxiclues) found it difficult to find a cheaper and comfortable travel options. The Autos being uncomfortable, unreliable, unsafe and very difficult to take during the night were out of the equation. The regular taxis were too costly and too difficult to find. The new generation app based taxis were convenient, but then how to decide which one is the best option?
To compare the price and features, one had to go to each website or app separately or worse, call their call center and then decide the cab to choose. There are so many offers which are not used by commuters due to paucity of information. To help solve all such things, she decided to find a permanent solution to all these problems by launching Taxiclues in July 2014.
Taxiclues has a robust plan of financial and revenue model and is going as per scheduled targets. The revenue will be generated through commissions, listing fees and advertisements by Taxi operators and travel services. The cost centers are basically, technology, advertisement and maintenance.
Metal-heads behind the wall:
Khushboo being the founder of the venture handles entire operations, right from fund raising to media awareness. Apart from her, Mr. Birendra Agrawal is the visionary partner and investor for the startup, supporting and nurturing it through his expert advice and guidance. Another core member is Varun Agrawal, an Aerospace Engineer from IIT Bombay and is supporting Taxiclues as the technology lead.
Challenges during the journey:
Reaching out to the end users has always been the biggest hurdle, as not many know about Taxiclues. The other problem we faced was the difficulty in educating the end users and showing them the big picture, as they think that INR 100 or 200 will not make much of a difference. But cumulatively, the same could have saved hundreds of crores for them. Now, we are spending more time in reaching out to users, educating them about benefits of Taxiclues.
Three broad segments of challenge may be summarized as —Social outreach, funding and technical expertise.
Funding goals and future map:
The startup is presently in Bootstrapped state, and is looking for Series A funding to cater to its expansion needs.
