It’s a common fact that we like people with same interests and hobbies as per ours. The likeliness increases with amount of the same passion for same interests. The trend follows much more with shopping taxonomy, as we like to explore our friend’s style statement. The differences are always respected, but sharing common interests and exploring always adds on to the excitement. Some learn from us and from some we learn.
Every user has a unique style based on what they buy. So there can be connecting medium to explore the common interests with shopping trends too. But currently there is no network, which has only shoppers and where users can showcase their style to friends and followers. Taking the problem statement into account, Khaleel Pasha and team came up with Dilbole.
Here are the excerpts from the talk we had with the founder of Dilbole:
P8: Tell us more about Dilbole and its purpose of existence?
DB: Dilbole is the social destination for window shoppers and brand enthusiasts. It’s a home where users can discover people, products and brands based on style preferences. Dilbole is a platform through which you can showcase your style, discover products, people and stores. Purpose of existence for Dilbole would be promoting social online shopping which can further enhance the social connect we share with our friends.

P8: Software engineer from NIT Warangal, trying to revolutionize the social shopping domain, How come?
DB: I worked with Amazon for 5 years. I got very intrigued with the whole concept of online shopping and the access it is creating to shoppers. While working earlier on a startup ScrapeHere in 2012, which was a universal wishlist for shoppers, we figured out that people need a focused network where they can show off their shopping taste and discuss around products and brands they love to shop. There are other networks, but they are filled with other things which are not completely relevant to shoppers. We closed Scrapehere and Started Dilbole.
P8: Tell us about the execution journey
DB: We reused everything we had with ScrapeHere. We built a mobile app for the first time, which was pretty much challenging, thanks to our excellent in house technical skills, which helped us to build the product better. The production is over, however marketing is a bigger challenge with money crunch we have these days. For that we are looking to raise funds to scale and reach more people.
P8: What segment of customers Dilbole is dedicated to?
DB: Women who love to shop or window shoppers are target customers for the time being. Once we reach to good scale we will work on targeting other groups.
P8: Enlighten us about the team behind Dilbole
DB: Along with me there’s another co-founder, Sri Hema Kiran, Masters in Information Science from BITS Pilani and have been a part of the founding team of two startups.
We have two more team members.
1. Nikitha, comes from BITS. Having worked with a couple of startups during college, she loves working with startups. She handles technology on the web and backend support.
2. Hareesh, a passionate developer, who developed Dilbole android app.
P8: Tell us about the challenges and how are you overcoming them?
DB: With the little budget we have in pocket, expanding the team and marketing are currently our biggest faced challenges. To overcome them, we are going in full swing on digital marketing part. The rest will be solved properly after raising funds.
P8: What’s the revenue model and funding plans for Dilbole?
DB: Currently we are pre-revenue stage. We have tied up with 50+ stores for affiliate commission model. As of now we are self-funded, but the stage is set for raising venture capital as we are planning to expand Dilbole to a grand level.
P8: What’s up in the future for Dilbole? Any plans?
DB: A lot! But mainly we want to be the leading social shopping app in India and Asia.
The idea and concept for Dilbole itself creates a niche factor in the domain they are planning to expand themselves. Pixr8 wishes Dilbole a very best of luck!
