Lenskart is India’s fastest growing eyewear company founded by Peyush Bansal in November 2010. With a unique brick and mortar presence, Lenskart today offers over 10,000 different styles and high quality prescription eyeglasses, sunglasses and contact lens to fit all pocket sizes.
Lenskart has grown more than 200% year on year in the last 2 years, to be among the top 3 optical businesses in India today. Lenskart currently has over 100 stores across more than 66 cities in the country with delivery in over 100 cities.
Lenskart has emerged as a leading player in the e-commerce ecosystem with servicing 30 customers during its initial days to now more than 3000 a day.
Lenskart.com was incepted under the parent company Valyoo Technologies that was launched in June 2008 by Peyush Bansal. Valyoo Technologies had also launched three more portals Watchkart.com and Bagskart.com in May and August 2011, respectively, and Jewlskart.com in February 2012, which were later shut down, with a view to keep the company’s focus on leading the eyewear industry in India.
Lenskart has so far received around Rs. 210 crore funding in three rounds. The company’s net worth is estimated to be around Rs. 600 crore (US $100 million), as of January 2015.
After successfully establishing the online business, Lenskart introduced its franchisee store in Chandigarh on January 28, 2014. The multi-brand eyewear seller has now expanded its offline presence to over 100 stores spread across more than 66 Indian cities including tier 2 and tier 3 cities.
Lenskart’s e-mail marketing campaign was included in the “honorable mention” in the “Create and Design – E-commerce” category at Marketing Sherpa Email Awards 2014.
Lenskart had set up a manufacturing plant in Okhla, Delhi, in early 2015 to expand the business in the lens manufacturing.
