Xiaomi, the third largest Smartphone vendor in the world is planning to expand its business in India by partnering with various startups majoring in different sector in order to create a hub of its own products in the country.
Xiaomi was co-founded by eight partners on June 6, 2010 and released its first smartphone in August 2011 and by the end of 2014, Xiaomi became the world’s most valuable technology start-up having an evaluation of approximately $46 billion.
“Xiaomi may co-develop, invest or launch their products and even have discussed with a few startups so far in India” says Manu Jain, Xiaomi’s India head. Xiaomi released its first mobile Mi3 in India in July 2014 which set the market on fire selling the whole stock in a couple of minutes on Flipkart.
Xiaomi may soon start Mi.com, it’s own eCommerce platform, for selling products across the country. Also it is planning to open it’s service centers across the country which may boost the trust factor among the local crowd.
Despite the controversies around its smartphones and all, Xiaomi is expecting a good run in 2015 too. All in all, it would be a profitable deal for the startups too, as working with Xiaomi would give them exposure to the global market.
