Pulse Candy Maker DS Group Eyes 20-24% Revenue Growth This Fiscal

Diversified firm Dharampal Satyapal Group (DS Group) expects its revenue to grow by 20-24 per cent this fiscal with food and beverage and mouth freshener businesses driving the growth.

“We have been growing at an average of nearly 20-24 per cent in last few years and that is a growth trend we would like to maintain, with emphasis on first-class quality and innovative products,” DS Group Vice Chairman Rajiv Kumar told Pixr8.

The food and beverage (F&B) and mouth freshener businesses are driving the growth of the group and the past year has seen the company entering new areas in both to further strengthen our FMCG offerings, he added.

The Noida-based group, which is well known for its consumer goods brands like ‘Catch’ and ‘Pass Pass’, had reported a turnover of more than Rs 7,700 crore in the 2015-16 fiscal. At present, mouth freshener and F&B segments account for around 56 per cent and 22 per cent of the group’s turnover. The group has been steadily increasing its footprint in the FMCG business especially F&B field, where last few years have seen it entering new segments like dairy and confectionery and simultaneously intensifying its portfolio in the existing segment of mouth fresheners, salt, spices and beverages.

“We are now focusing on F&B business mainly, by expanding the offering and introducing new formats to present a more comprehensive product basket,” Kumar said.

When asked if the company is also looking at launching new products in the FMCG space, he said: “Yes, definitely we constantly upgrade our FMCG offering for discerning consumer, who expect something new from us”.

“This also keeps the consumer interest alive in our brands. Whether it is Catch, Ksheer, Chingles pulse or Rajnigandha, new products or variants are continually added to the existing portfolio,” Kumar said.

He added that the group’s investments going ahead would be mainly in extending its product portfolio, infrastructure expansion and Research & Development (R&D) requirements. He, however, did not share any specific amount. DS Group has presence in various verticals, including FMCG, hospitality, tobacco, packaging and infrastructure. Its main brand in mouth fresheners category includes Rajnigandha among others.
