The Bengaluru based Fin-Tech company PhonePe has tied up with online travel company Goibibo to allow its users to make hotel bookings from the app itself. It will provide a unified login and payments experience to over 100 million PhonePe users for the same purpose.
According to the statement, the PhonePe app will have Goibibo’s microapp under the name ‘Hotels’ which will enable users to book domestic and international hotels. Users can also use their goCash balance to make these hotel bookings.

“With this partnership, Indian travellers can easily and conveniently make hotel bookings within their PhonePe app. The microapp storefront was built by GoIbibo in just 3 weeks, which is testimony to how simple it is to build out a merchant experience on PhonePe” said Rahul Chari, PhonePe co-founder and CTO.
The payment services platform already has a similar partnership with online cab service provider Ola which was carried forward last week. It also has a similar app-in-app partnership with bus ticketing service redBus. And with this association, the company is spreading its hands towards expansion in different fields. Goibibo has stated that this partnership is expected to solve the problem of failed transactions on their platform.
“This partnership will extend Goibibo’s extensive selection of 50,000 domestic hotels and homestays, including Goibibo certified goStays and half a million international hotels to PhonePe’s growing customer base. PhonePe has taken a unique approach to solve digital payments, and their open ecosystem allows us to build the Goibibo experience into their app and engage with a wider user base on their platform,” said Sanjay Bhasin, COO, Goibibo.
The payments company believes that this step is a big technology milestone for them. Goibibo has built this store using React Native, enabling a rich user experience similar to their native apps. These kinds of partnerships and associations will definitely help in immensely enriching the mobile commerce experience in the country.
