Paytm Employees Arrested for Blackmailing Vijay Shekhar Sharma for Rs 20 Crore

Paytm has been in news for a long time for various purposes. This time, it is something different and shocking. Three Paytm employees along with managing director Vijay Shekhar’s personal secretary have been arrested by the Noida Police on Monday.

The step has been taken because the employees allegedly tried to extort Rs 20 crore from their boss. The employees stole the confidential data and blackmailed the founder asking them to pay Rs 20 crore. He was being threatened to leak the confidential information of his company.

 



 

The police disclosed that the woman who was Sharma’s secretary is the alleged mastermind of the entire extortion attempt. A total of four employees were involved in the plan and three of them have been arrested by the Sector 20 police, while the police is still trying to nab the fourth accused.

“The owner of Paytm had made a complaint with the police that their employees, a woman and her aides, had stolen some data from the company and were blackmailing. They were demanding Rs. 20 crore for not leaking it,” Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Gautam Buddh Nagar, Ajay Pal Sharma said.

Meanwhile, the police are investigating the arrested employees and continuously enquiring about the stolen data and employees’ modus operandi. The police have stated that with the help of an employee known as Devendra, founder’s secretary Sonia Dhawan stole the confidential data from the company. As per reports, Sonia’s husband Rupak Jain was also a part of the extortion bid.
