Good News! Now the passengers can check their train and live train status online via WhatsApp. Appreciation to Indian Railways, the passengers can check the train running status through WhatsApp, and make provisions beforehand.
Indian Railways have come to terms with MakeMyTrip, a travel company headquartered in Gurugram, Haryana, to let the users check online train status using WhatsApp. MakeMyTrip has a WhatsApp feature which provides passengers with information on live train status, PNR status, emerging railway station, departed railway station etc.
Considering the popularity and massive user base of WhatsApp, the messaging app owned by Facebook is likely to cater its railway services to a large number of people across the country. Also, the feature reduces passenger’s dependence to call on 139 to get the status of the train.
Here is how the user can check live train status, PNR status on WhatsApp:
– First, the user has to make sure that he has the updated version of WhatsApp on his smartphone.
– After that, he should save MakeMyTrip’s number on his smartphone which is 7349389104.
– Then Go to WhatsApp and refresh the contact list. He will be able to locate MakeMyTrip on his WhatsApp.
– Now, open the MakeMyTrip chat window on the WhatsApp. To check the live status of the train, now enter the train number.
– Similarly, the user can also check the booking status by entering the PNR number.
– Thereafter, MakeMyTrip will respond with the real-time train/booking status.
– Passengers must note that if the server isn’t busy, you can expect a response, with the details of the respective train, within 10 seconds of making the request.
– But one can always look out for blue ticks to know if the server has received the message or not.
The new feature has been incorporated in the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) website and has been in operation since June. This simplifies the process of checking the PNR status and live running status of the train by bringing the updates to passenger’s inboxes.
