Facebook’s Anna White Replaces Instagram’s PR Director

Instagram’s director of comms, Gabe Madway who provided services to the company for the past four years is resigning from his position to work for a new company by the end of the summers. It has been reported that he will be replaced by Anna White who is a part of Facebook’s internal PR team.

Prior to joining Instagram, Madway was a correspondent with Reuters, before becoming an executive comms manager at Google from 2011 to 2014. Madway has worked efficiently for the company and has been one of the more level-headed and frank PR people.

Anna White, on the other hand, will report to Kristina Schake, Instagram’s Global Comms director who leads from behind the scenes. Talking about her past experiences, she has also worked with Google and YouTube as a communications manager before joining Facebook in 2015. Under Facebook, she has been working as the Consumer Comms director. She used to handle some announcements around safety, accessibility and Facebook’s Jobs feature.

Since White is entering Instagram, she will be responsible to oversee the massive functionality expansion going down at Instagram at present. She will handle work under the new VP of Product Adam Mosseri, who has lately joined over after leading the Facebook News Feed product.

With Instagram’s new IGTV feature and 1 billion user base, Anna White might gain a lot from the appointment. The news of this appointment comes a few days after the IGTV feature has been launched on the app along with its own mobile application.
