Facebook Brings On Board HP’s Top Executive Antonio Lucio

One of the leading social media platforms Facebook has announced that it is appointing Antonio Lucio who has been the Global Chief Marketing and Communication Officer HP Inc.

Lucio will be joining in as the new chief marketing officer where he will be working across Facebook’s family of apps, including WhatsApp and Instagram. He is taking up the position of Gary Briggs who left the social network in January.

“Purpose and impact have been at the center of every career decision that I have ever made,” Lucio said in a statement. “Facebook is one of the world’s most impactful brands, at a pivotal moment in its history. I am honored to join the team and support its evolution.”

He will report to Facebook Chief Product Officer Chris Cox and also will be a part of Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg’s leadership team. Prior to HP, Lucio previously held executive positions at Visa Inc. and PepsiCo, Inc.

After working three years with The Hewlett Packard Corporation, he will be coming on board with Facebook from 4th September 2018.

This year has been a challenging one for Facebook and the company has spent millions of dollars on ads apologizing for its failures. With this appointment, the company is aiming to have a better future and better working of the company.

“Antonio will join us from HP, where he led their marketing team for three years. Before that he was the CMO at Visa and at PepsiCo,” Chris Cox stated. “Facebook’s story is at an inflection point. We have never faced bigger challenges, and we have never had more opportunities to have a positive impact on the world by improving our products at their core,” Cox added.

It might now be interesting to watch whether the scenario of Facebook will change with the entry of Antonio Lucio. Let’s hope all the failures and setbacks that the company faced this year fades after this appointment.
