UP Govt Appeals For Extra 15 Days For Patanjali’s Food Park Project

Patanjali Ayurveda Limited had failed to present the fresh documents regarding the sub-leasing of the land assigned to them for a project that aimed to build a mega food park along the Yamuna Expressway. Followed by the event, the government of UP has requested to the Centre in writing, that Patanjali should be given 15 more days to observe and meet the requirements for the proposed Rs 6,000 crore mega food park.

the Union Food Processing Ministry had given a deadline to the leading FMCG company till 15 June 2018. The company till then was expected to fulfill the required conditions and get acceptance for setting up the park along the highway.

But since the UP Government wants a little more time, Anup Chandra Pandey, Infrastructure and Industrial Development Department Commissioner of Uttar Pradesh has written a letter to the Centre requesting to extend the date to  30 June 2018. The letter in this regard read, “It is requested to extend the time given by the inter-ministerial approval committee (of the Food Processing Ministry) from June 15 to June 30 to meet the conditions required to get the final approval.”

The conditions that were supposed to be fulfilled were to transfer the land in the name of Patanjali Ayurved’s subsidiary Patanjali Food and Herbal Park Noida Pvt Ltd. The Ayurveda company has planned to set up a plant over 425 acres of land along the Yamuna Expressway and invest an amount up to Rs 6,000 crore for the same.

Patanjali spokesperson S K Tijarawala exclaimed, “We are confident and express our pleasure over the sincere steps taken by the UP chief minister. As the Union Food Processing Ministry is very cooperative, we are hopeful that 15 days extension would be granted so that the state government completes its formalities.”

Earlier in June, the Baba Ramdev-led company claimed that its mega food park would offer goods worth Rs 25,000 crore yearly on full capacity running and along with that it is expected to provide 10,000 direct jobs. Patanjali, at present, is also investing in mega food park projects in Nagpur (Maharashtra) and Tezpur (Assam).
