It has been a great pleasure for India to welcome the Twitter co-founder and CEO Jack Dorsey. Dorsey is on his maiden trip to India. However, the experts have been feeling that the social media platform Twitter has been missing several opportunities to make itself relevant in the country and this has been the basic purpose of the co-founder to visit the country.
In its most recent earnings announcement in October, Twitter reported an annual increase of 29 percent in revenue to $758 million in India. However, its monthly active users fell to 326 million in the September quarter.
“Twitter does not even account for 5 per cent of revenue from social media platforms in India,” said Meenakshi Tiwari, a forecast analyst who looks at business technology and digital marketing at research firm Forrester.
On Tuesday, the Twitter CEO met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and discussed the importance of global conversations on social media platforms. Also, after the meeting Dorsey tweeted pictures from his meeting.

Along with this, to increase its importance in India, the company has also launched its ‘#PowerOf18’ initiative aimed at encouraging Indian youth to contribute to public debate and participate in civic engagement in the upcoming election season.
After his meet with PM Narendra Modi, Superstar Shah Rukh Khan and Oscar-winning music composer A.R. Rahman met Twitter CEO and co-founder Jack Dorsey, with Rahman calling it an “inspiring” meeting.
Today @jack made me realise with his calm demeanour & composed, nearly meditative mindset…’that all Work and no Pray, would make Jack a dull boy.” Thx for dropping in & also team @Twitter for a lively evening. Have a happy stay in India. pic.twitter.com/melFfe8NKJ
