Micromax invested in a consumer technology and AI based start-up ‘One Labs’ who manufactured a product ‘inOne’ allowing users to access apps across different categories including food, shopping, travel, deals, cabs, news, recharge, games, etc…
‘InOne’ is the star product of One Labs and presently regroups over 50 apps in a 10 mb program. Some apps come pre-installed in ‘inOne’ such as Flipkart, Amazon, Snapdeal, Zomato, Ola, Uber, BookMyShow, Housejoy, Nearbuy, UrbanClap, etc… The app serves the purpose of saving up device storage by installing only one app instead of downloading 20 apps for 20 different purposes. The app is very helpful to save internal storage and is perfectly tailored to meet the needs of Micromax’s budget smartphones.
‘InOne’ will also gain advantage of the 100 million users of Micromax.
Rahul Gupa, CEO and co-founder of One Labs said in a statement, “We are proud to be working with Micromax to bring over 100 million Micromax consumers closer to our compelling platform. While phone hardware is getting smarter and more efficient, we wanted to make apps smarter. Like mobiles replaced pagers, we foresee that in a few years all-in-one apps like inOne will replace the need to download separate apps for different use cases.”
Micromax announced in a statement that they invested in the product to conduct additional development intended to provide over 200 apps on the platform in the coming 12 months by allowing third party developers to add content on ‘inOne’ thus making it an instant app platform.
The Indian Consumer Electronics Company based in Gurgaon intends to pre-install ‘inOne’ on all Micromax devices and will spread the features available to users on its Around platform. The company also have partnerships with startups like Ixigo, Healthifyme, IndusOS, Gaana.com and more.
With aspirations of dominating the electronics market, Micromax have already invested over Rs 300 crores in expanding the company and plan on investing an additional Rs 200 crores in the coming two years.
“At Micromax our emphasis is to drive innovations through software and services that would add a layer to the device eco-system. Given the fact that, artificial intelligence is the future of device ecosystem, we look forward to seeing how the partnership with One Labs will enable us to enhance user experience even further,” said Vikas Jain, Co-Founder of Micromax Informatics.
Among the other products produced by One Labs, there is an AI enabled chatbot solution entitled One Assistant which packages services provided on ‘inOne’ as a virtual assistant. One Assistant is still in development but Micromax plans to launch it on their newly acquired ‘inOne’ as soon as possible.
