Facebook Stop News Headline changes from Advertisers

Facebook is working to stop advertisers from changing headlines in links to news stories after concerns raised by a British political party's altering of one such link. The leading social network confirmed the internal effort in the face of concerns over a BBC headline altered in an ad to evidently change the tone of an article about British government spending on education. "We are working to put safeguards in place by the end of the year to ensure publishers have control over the way their headlines appear in advertisements," Facebook said in response to an AFP inquiry. The new policy came over complaints that advertisers might be able to deceptively modify the content in news stories shared on the huge social network. A recent Conservative Party Facebook ad "seems to have al...

Google Fined $170 mn for Sharing Kids YouTube Channel Data

Google agreed to pay USD 170 million to settle charges that it illegally collected and shared data from children on its YouTube video service, deal critics said was too soft on the internet giant. The settlement with the Federal Trade Commission and the New York State Attorney General is the largest amount in a case involving the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, a 1998 federal law, officials said. Officials said YouTube violated the law that requires child-directed websites and online services to provide notice of their information practices and obtain parental consent prior to collecting personal information from children under 13. The company marketed itself as a destination for children and benefitted by selling advertising to toymakers and others seeking to connect wi...

How to Fix Your Cracked iPhone Screen? Apple has Solution for it

30 August, 2019- Apple is loosening its grip on how its products are repaired to give customers more options for fixing cracked screens and other defects on their older iPhones. Under the new policy announced Thursday, Apple will begin selling its tools and parts to more independent phone-repair shops in the U.S. Apple will expand that to other countries later. Repairs at these shops, though, will be limited to iPhones already out of warranty. IPhones still under warranty must still be taken to an Apple store or one of more than 5,000 service providers that the company already has authorized worldwide. That includes all Best Buy stores in the U.S. Those who have other devices, such as the Apple Watch and Mac computer, or an iPhone requiring more complicated repairs will also have to ...

Camscanner Affected With Malware, 100 Million Users Data Compromised

Kaspersky researchers recently found malware in an app called CamScanner, a phone-based PDF creator that includes OCR (optical character recognition) and has more than 100 million downloads in Google Play. The app also called by slightly different names such as CamScanner Phone PDF Creator and CamScanner-Scanner to scan PDFs. Official app stores such as Google Play are usually considered a safe haven for downloading software. Unfortunately, nothing is 100% safe, and from time to time malware distributors manage to sneak their apps into Google Play. The problem is that even such a powerful company as Google can’t thoroughly check millions of apps. Keep in mind that most of the apps are updated regularly, so Google Play moderators’ jobs are never done. CamScanner was actua...
