Nirmala Sitharaman Asks MPs to Consider Setting up Co-working Space or Incubators in Their Constituency

Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has urged the Members of Parliament (MPs) to consider setting up co-working spaces or incubators for startups in their constituency. In a letter to the MPs, the minister has asked utilising the Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) funds for such initiatives. Software Testing For GST Complete, Ready For Smooth Rollout: GSTN

GST Network, the company providing technology backbone for the new indirect tax regime today said it has completed all software trials and testings necessary to successfully rollout GST from July 1. Over 66 lakh taxpayers have enrolled on the GSTN portal, Chairman Navin Kumar said. "GST IT system has undergone all mandatory tests and has been opened for new registrations and enrolments on June 25. We would like to assure everyone that the system is functioning smoothly," he said. Indian Space Centre ISRO Developed Technology to Alert Users at Unmanned Crossings

Satellite-based chip systems will now alert road users at unmanned level crossings about approaching trains and also help in tracking train movement on a real-time basis. On a pilot basis, the Mumbai and Guwahati Rajdhani trains will be equipped with this system. Road users will be warned by hooters once a train approaches an unmanned level crossing as railways are installing ISRO-developed integrated circuit (IC) chips on locomotives of trains. There will be hooters at 20 unmanned level crossings on Rajdhani routes for Guwahati and Mumbai, said a senior Railway Ministry official involved with the project. Indian Government Approved a Start-up Incubation Centre for Mangaluru

The Indian government has approved a start-up incubation centre for Mangaluru to provide basic facilities for people intending to set up self-employment units, Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said. The Centre would start functioning within four months with an investment of Rs 1.18 crore, she said. Facilities would be provided to 60 start-up companies at the centre in the initial phase, the Minister of state for for Commerce and Industry said after inspecting the site identified for the centre here last evening. India to Have 1.4 Billion Mobile Subscribers by 2022

The overall mobile subscriber base in the country is likely to grow to 1.4 billion by 2022 and nearly one-third of them will be 4G users, says a report by Ericsson Mobility. India led the mobile subscribers growth globally with highest net addition of over 43 million customers in January- March 2017, it said. China followed India with net addition of over 24 million mobile subscribers during the three-month period. Indias total mobile subscriber base is expected to grow to over 1.4 billion in the next five years of which 520 million will be 4G subscribers, the report said. Indian Banks to start charging for P2P payments on UPI

Nearly two years after operationalisation of the Unified Payment Interface (UPI), banks have started moving to charge for peer-to-peer payments on the new platform. Countrys largest lender State Bank of India has came out with charges with effect from June 1, while the second largest private sector lender HDFC Bank has also gone public with its rate structure which will be effective July 10.
