BookMyShow Steps Into International Event Ticketing

India’s largest entertainment ticketing platform BookMyShow is now stepping into international event ticketing service with the aim to strengthen its non-movie business over the next two years.

The company will foray the international ticketing service with a musical stage production of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s The King and I which is to happen at the West End theatre in London. The ticketing company had also collaborated with Disney for its Broadway-style musical Aladdin’s entry in India.

Albert Almeida, COO-Non Movies at BookMyShow said,

Millions of Indian tourists travel abroad each year and many of them are increasingly traveling to satiate their appetite for international entertainment. This is where we sensed an opportunity in fulfilling the need of our audiences that travel or who will travel should the entertainment be a draw. Our customers in India will now be able to get their tickets seamlessly for some of the biggest international events happening around the world be it live concerts, theatre or even sport.

With the aim of expansion, the company has partnered with live theatre business firm Trafalgar Entertainment Group which will allow Indians traveling to Europe this summer to enjoy the music and also a lot of other Trafalgar’s productions.

The price of the tickets on the platform will be based on how they would have been rated on-ground in India converted to the currency of those countries. BookMyShow is expected to bring in at least 500 international events on its platform in the next one year with the primary focus on Dubai and Bangkok to grow its existing 35 million customer base even more.
