Different types of SEO work was done when we moved from MeraCareerGuide.com to CareerGuide.com. Here is a step by step guide and all my learning for startups looking to migrate domain.
Steps I used to move domain – from MeraCareerGuide.com to CareerGuide.com:
Start the process to redirect all of the pages from root domain to root domain and sub-domain to sub-domain through the Google Webmaster Tool.
Step 1- Create a sitemap for an old domain as well as for a new domain.
Step 2- Register and verified a new domain with Google Webmaster.
Step 3- Redirect from the old domain to new domain. Basically, it will be a 1:1 mapping (Ex- http://www.meracareerguide.com/psychometric-career-assessment to http://www.careerguide.com/psychometric-career-assessment)
Step 4- 301 redirect old domains to new domain-I created a robust list of urls and then we review each of the URL to make sure we only redirect those URLs which is important.
Step 5- Fill out the change of address form in Google Webmaster tool- use this tool for moving site to a new domain.
Step 6- Create a new sitemap and submitted to the Google and Bing Webmaster- this image help how to submit sitemap of a website on google webmaster.
Step 7- Wait until Google webmaster tools updates and fix any error it indicates in the diagnostics section.
Step 8- Analyzed search engine result to new domain is being properly indexed or not. I have used top most tools which are necessary for SEO analysis, such as: Google Analytics, Google Webmaster, Google Ad-word, Moz toolbar. Created a campaign of CareerGuide.com on those Tools for analysis.
This is the whole process to move from old domain to new domain. I hope you liked the blog and that you’ll be able to do much more SEO step with your website than before.
