Paytm Sold Over 30 kgs of Digital Gold

Alibaba-backed Paytm today said it has sold over 30 kgs of digital gold in six days of launching the service in partnership with gold refiner, MMTC- PAMP. Last week, the two companies had launched Digital Gold service that allowed customers to buy and sell gold through Paytms electronic platform. The facility allowed people to buy gold for as low as a Re. "We are registering high traction from smaller cities as well since consumers now have better access to high quality gold at small ticket prices," Paytm Senior Vice President Krishna Hegde said in a statement. The government wants iPhone maker Apple to consider a new manufacturing scheme offering duty benefits to set up its plants in the country. "Apple had asked for a set of concessions. For a period of 15 years all the components that Apple imports, they want them to be free of duty. We have a phased manufacturing programme (PMP) because we want more and more value addition to come to the country. India's fourth largest software services firm HCL Technologies today said it will acquire US- based Urban Fulfillment Services (UFS) for up to USD 30 million (over Rs 193 crore) in cash. UFS is a provider of mortgage business process and fulfilment services. Founded in 2002, the company has over 350 highly skilled professionals. It has three centres in the US. The total cash consideration for this transaction is up to USD 30 million, including contingent payments subject to certain financial milestones, HCL said in a regulatory filing. Scientists in the US have created the most detailed digital map to track the changing racial diversity of every neighbourhood in the country. Researchers from University of Cincinnati (UC) in the US applied NASA map making techniques to 20 years of data collected by the US Census Bureau to build one of the most detailed racial-diversity maps ever created. Cab aggregator Ola's board has approved raising up to USD 100 million from existing shareholders, primarily to fund its expansion plans.
