Jumbotail, an Online Marketplace For Food and Grocery Raises $8.5 Million

Jumbotail, an online marketplace for food and grocery, today said it has raised USD 8.5 million (over Rs 55 crore) from Kalaari Capital and existing investor, Nexus Venture Partners. The company plans to utilise the funds for strengthening its technology platform and enhancing operational capabilities, Jumbotail said in a statement. Jumbotail will also expand its team, but details of the same were not disclosed. Founded in November 2015, Jumbotail serves thousands of wholesale customers such as kirana stores and HORECA (hotel/restaurant/cafe) businesses in Bengaluru. Food Startup Authenticook Raises 1.45 Cr From Booking.com

Mumbai based food startup Authenticook raises grant of Rs 1.45 crore (200,000 euros) from Booking.com. The funding will be use to increase the number of cities covered by four-times to up to 40 by end of 2018. "We are present in nine cities now and expect to increase this to 35-40 by the end of 2018," the city-based startups co-founder Ameya Deshpande told Pixr8. He said the company plans to break-even in 2019 and is looking to get a Series A funding sometime next year. Satellite-based chip systems will now alert road users at unmanned level crossings about approaching trains and also help in tracking train movement on a real-time basis. On a pilot basis, the Mumbai and Guwahati Rajdhani trains will be equipped with this system. Road users will be warned by hooters once a train approaches an unmanned level crossing as railways are installing ISRO-developed integrated circuit (IC) chips on locomotives of trains. There will be hooters at 20 unmanned level crossings on Rajdhani routes for Guwahati and Mumbai, said a senior Railway Ministry official involved with the project. 16 Apple Employee Arrested in China For Selling iPhone Data

Chinese police have arrested 16 employees of an Apple contractor for selling personal information of iPhone users from eastern Chinas Zhejiang Province. In January, police in Cangnan county Zhejiang Province suspected several employees or former employees of an Apple distributor and a contractor of stealing user data, the county procuratorate said in a statement today. In May, police caught 22 people, 20 of whom worked for the two companies, from Guangdong, Jiangsu and Fujian provinces, state-run Xinhua news agency reported. So far, 16 people have been arrested and four remain under investigation.
