Nestaway Raises $51 Million Funding From Ratan Tata & Others

NestAway Technologies Pvt. Ltd. also known as NestAway announced that it had raised USD 51 million (Rs. 330 Crores) in series D round. The funding was raised from UC-RNT Fund (a joint venture between Tata Son's chairman emeritus Ratan Tata's RNT Associates and the University of California), Schroder Adveq, Goldman Sachs and the HK . Baba Ramdev-led Patanjali Ayurved today announced its foray into e-commerce for its FMCG items, partnering major players in the space, including Amazon and Flipkart, and targeting over Rs 1,000 crore this year itself. AP- iPhone owners from several states sued Apple for not disclosing sooner that it issued software updates deliberately slowing older-model phones so aging batteries lasted longer, saying Apple's silence led them to wrongly conclude that their only option was to buy newer, pricier iPhones. The allegations were in a lawsuit filed on Thursday in Chicago federal court on behalf of five iPhone owners from Illinois, Ohio, Indiana and North Carolina, all of whom say they would never have bought new iPhones had Apple told them that simply replacing the batteries would have sped up their old ones. GST Network, the company providing technology backbone for the new indirect tax regime today said it has completed all software trials and testings necessary to successfully rollout GST from July 1. Over 66 lakh taxpayers have enrolled on the GSTN portal, Chairman Navin Kumar said. "GST IT system has undergone all mandatory tests and has been opened for new registrations and enrolments on June 25. We would like to assure everyone that the system is functioning smoothly," he said. The GSTN portal has also started accepting registrations from new taxpayers from June 25 even as the process of migration of existing taxpayers is already on. Jio Effect: Airtel Q4 Net Income Plunges 72%, From 1319 Crore to Rs 373.4 Crore

Bharti Airtel today registered a sharp 72 per cent decline in consolidated net income at Rs 373.4 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 2017, hit by "sustained predatory pricing" by newcomer Reliance Jio. Net income stood at Rs 1,319 crore in the same period a year ago. Total revenue fell 12 per cent to Rs 21,934.6 crore, from Rs 24,959.6 crore in the same period last fiscal. The earnings numbers came in after market hours. "The sustained predatory pricing by the new operator has led to a decline in revenue growth for the second quarter in a row. Japans SoftBank is hopeful of getting a nod soon from co-investor Nexus Venture Partners to sell Snapdeal to Indias largest e-commerce firm Flipkart. According to sources, Softbank -- the largest shareholder in Snapdeal-- has been successful in getting Kalaari to agree to the deal but is yet to get Nexus Venture Partners on board for the same. Hero Enterprises Chairman Sunil Kant Munjal today committed an investment of Rs 100 crore in a new fund of social venture capital firm Aavishkaar -- Aavishkaar Bharat Fund. The fund is sixth by Aavishkaar and a Sebi-registered category II alternative investment fund (AIF). "At this stage in India's evolution, it is clear that for the entire country to develop, rural areas and underprivileged citizens must become part of the economic miracle, not through charity, but through real opportunities," Munjal said in a statement. A lawyer today filed an application with MIDC police station in suburban Andheri, demanding registration of FIR for sexual harassment against Arunabh Kumar, founder of web entertainment firm The Viral Fever(TVF). The complaint referred to accusations of sexual harassment against Kumar made in a blog post by an anonymous woman who claimed to be a former TVF employee. TVF has denied the allegations.
