Smartphone Sales To Shoot Up To 160 Million By 2017: ASSOCHAM

The ASSOCHAM has in its study pointed out that sales of smartphones in the country are set to shoot up to 160 million in fiscal year 2017 from 100 million this year on the back of prices becoming affordable for a larger number of people. It said that the in-built camera, other internet-enabled features, coupled with replacement of ordinary phones with the smart devices at a rapid pace were few of the reasons. The sales of smartphone almost doubled from 44 million units in 2013 to 100 million units in 2016 and is expected to touch 160 million units by 2017, the ASSOCHAM is its latest study said. NEW DELHI: Gurgaon-based Baxi will roll out a new feature to help users book rides on the app without using Internet. The bike-taxi hailing app, which offers services in Gurgaon and Faridabad, will make the feature available to its 30,000 users from next week. "All customers that have an Android smartphone without a data connection can now use the new Baxi app. Customers can also use the app even when their Internet connection isn't working," Baxi co-founder and CTO Manu Rana told said. New Delhi: A Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) committee has advised credible third party certification in most areas of government regulation to further facilitate ease of doing business in the country.
