Knowlarity Acquihires Customer Engagement Platform Smartwards

Gurgaon-based Knowlarity Communications, a cloud telephony company has acquihire Delhi-based Customer Engagement platform, Smartwards for an undisclosed amount. After the acquisition, Co-Founders of the acquired startup, Shantanu Mathur and Dhanraj Singh Bisht will join Knowlarity and head its India operations.

Also, as part of this acquisition, Knowlarity will now integrate Smartwards solution to its product to provide enterprise solutions to SMBs in and outside India.

“We are focused now on large enterprise clients and have pulled back from serving small and medium businesses. We are excited about building artificial intelligence into products and voice as a segment and hybrid cloud telephony on premise,” said Ambarish Gupta, founder of Knowlarity.

Mathur, who was the CEO of e-commerce portal FashionAndYou in 2012, will look at onboarding large enterprise clients and head a team of 300 at the Mayfield and Sequoia-backed company. He was previously the managing director of conglomerate Smile Group’s India incubator.

In cloud telephony, the company competes with Exotel, which has so far acquired two companies in the voice-based feedback and voice-based social media segments.

Exotel recently announced its foray into the Southeast Asian market where Knowlarity already has a presence.

Long payment cycles have been a challenge for technology solutions directed at small and medium businesses in India, forcing businesses to focus on client base in the US and Southeast Asia.
