Doormint, a Mumbai-based startup, which provides home services, has raised $3 million in series A round of funding led by Helion Venture Partners and would be putting the capital to accelerate its growth in Mumbai and venturing into newer markets of Delhi, Gurgaon, and Bengaluru while getting talent on board.
It had in April raised its seed fund from Powai Lake Venture and has followed it with its latest round of funding, which saw the participation of Kalaari capital too.
Doormint was started in the beginning of this year by three IIT alumni.
“We are in market creation mode where you actually need to educate customer and suppliers that home services are something that can done using technology, so it requires a certain amount of effort,” expressed Abhinav Agarwal, founder and CEO, Doormint.
Doormint presently completes 150-300 orders a day ranging across eight categories, from plumbing to laundry and is seeing 50% month-on-month growth.
Ritesh Banglani, partner at Helion Ventures said that unlike other home services provider in the market Doormint takes full responsibility for service delivery and customer satisfaction. And offers product such as one-touch home services, unlike other players in the market to take away calling, upfront pricing, and warranty post service delivery set to position Doormint as the leader in the market.
In the last few months, the home services industry saw a lot of capital poured into the startups operating in the sector by VC firms. with front runners LocalOye and Housejoy having raised Series A funding from institutional investors Tiger Global, Lightspeed Venture Partners, and Matrix Venture Partners. Most recently, Mumbai-based Zimmber raised $2 million from IDG Ventures, Omidyar Networks, and others last week.
