The Apple wireless AirPods that debuted in India in the late 2016, is reportedly going to upgrade its earphones to the second generation this year. These new AirPods are said to be installed with an upgraded chip which would help the users to call for Siri, by simply saying ‘Hey Siri’ . This is the same feature which exists in the iPhone, iPad and the newly released smart speaker HomePod. To activate Siri, the user have to double tap the side of the AirPods.
The AirPods first generation were priced at Rs 15,400 in India and was introduced with iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. The highly anticipated product came with features like it automatically turns on when they are put in the ear and automatically pauses when the user takes them out.
The giants AirPod shipments were predicted to increase to double with an expected sale of 26-28 million units by KGI Security Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. he also speculated that Apple was working on the second generation of the Apple AirPods back in December last year. However, he said nothing about the changes that Apple would make to its AirPods in the second generation.
Mac Rumors reported that the new model of the wireless earphones are internally named as B288 and there is a chance that the third generation AirPods could also be made which would be splash and dust resistant.
However the present generation of AirPods are not bad either as it is quite water resistant, even though Apple has never advertised such feature.
