Mahesh Murthy Clarifies After His Arrest in Sexual Harassment Case

The famed Indian Marketer and investor, Mahesh Murthy, was arrested in Mumbai on Friday for molesting and stalking a women under Section no. 534, 354 D (stalking), 509 (word, act or gesture to outrage the modesty of a woman), IPC r/w 67A of IT Act (as the harassment was done electronically) on the basis of the complaint  of a Delhi based woman who filed the charge to the National Commisiiomn of Women (NCW) in late 2017.

The case was, however, registered relying on the accusations made by the women in the police station on December 30. According to the Delhite, the angel investor used indecent words and tried to damage her sentiments. The NCW, in relation to the case, wrote to the Maharashtra director general of police coming across Murthy’s alleged use of disparaging and objectionable sexual remarks on social media platforms against the Delhi-based complainant. The letter also included the fact that other women have also approached to the commission about the same.

Irrespective of the complaint being filed on December 30, Murthy was arrested yesterday evening and was soon released on bail. He informed about the same to his followers and the people of the country on twitter.

In the series of tweets, he later explained his part saying, ” This is the same issue on which I had filed a case & and where the High Court has already passed an interim order in my favour & against the complainant back in April 2017. This is an attempt to counter-sue. I will fight this too in court to defend my reputation.”

Confirming the arrest, Senior Inspector Ramchandra Jadhav said,

“Murthy was arrested at 5:00 p.m. in connection with a molestation and stalking case and is being held at Khar police station at the moment.”
