The Govt of Odisha has recognized 80 startups in diverse areas, during the Second meeting of the Task Force held under the Chairmanship of Shri L.N. Gupta, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, MSME.
During the meeting the Task Force was also informed about the 32 more startups applications which are under the process, by Dr Samarendra Sahu.
The 80 recognized startups will be given a monthly allowance of Rs 20,000/- per month. This programme shelters startups from several fields such as Phoenix Robotix Pvt Ltd working on IOT and Wireless sensor Networks; Maisetas Technologies PvtLtd working on next-gen LED Luminaries and many more.

The Startups approved with monthly assistance also include 03 Startups founded by women entrepreneurs namely, DD Bio Solution Technology Pvt Ltd, Krea Foods and Beverages Pvt Ltd and Prantae Solutions (OPC) Pvt Ltd.
The Task Force also decided to extend mentorship to startups budding at IIT-Bhubaneswar, KIIT-TBI and IOT Centre of Excellence at NASSCOM, Delhi.
Earlier in May 2017, the Indian government amended the startup definition. It made it compulsory to make an upfront declaration of the number of jobs their initiative will create in order to avail benefits under the Startup India plan.
Recently, the Govt of Odisha has also launched a web portal for startups in May this year with a motto “to promote ease of doing business for budding entrepreneurs and creating an ecosystem for startups in the state.”
