Avast: Android Devices Ship with Pre-Installed Malware “Cosiloon”

World's Major cybersecurity company Avast has reported the presence of pre-installed malware in thousands of Android devices including those from manufacturers like ZTE, Archos and myPhone globally including in India. Dubbed as "Cosiloon", is an adware that creates an overlay to display an advertisement over a webpage within the user's browser, as per a report prepared by Avast Threat Labs. In its offical statement , Avast said, Thousands of users are affected and in the past month alone, Avast Threat Labs has seen the latest version of the adware on around 18,000 devices belonging to Avast users located in more than 100 countries, including Russia, Italy, Germany, India, Mexico, the UK as well as some users in the US. China’s ZTE Main Business Operations Cease after USA Ban

Chinese Multinational Agglomerate, ZTE was hit by a ban from Washington, forbidding U.S firms from supplying it with components and technology allegations of violating against U.S export restrictions by illegally shipping goods to Iran. The U.S ban which threatens to cut ZTE supply chain came amidst the heightened tensions over a possible China-U.S Trade War. The Chinese government too had raised the issue of the ban while visiting U.S trade delegation. China’s ZTE to Slash About 3,000 Jobs: Sources

Chinese telecom equipment maker ZTE, which is facing US trade sanctions that could severely disrupt its supply chain, is slashing about 3,000 jobs, including a fifth of positions in its struggling handset business in China, company sources said. The sources said the Shenzhen-based company, one of the world's biggest telecoms gear makers, is axing about 5 percent of its 60,000 global workforce. Its global handset operations will shed 600 jobs, or 10 percent of the total, with the cuts concentrated in China, where it has been losing market share.
