Satellite communication company OneWeb acquired by UK Government and India based Bharti Global

LONDON, July 3, 2020 -- Satellite communications company OneWeb has entered into an agreement with a consortium led by HMG (through the UK Secretary of State for Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy) and India based Bharti Global Limited for the acquisition of the OneWeb business. A consortium of Her Majesty's Government (HMG) (through the UK Secretary of State for Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy) and Bharti Global Limited has committed to providing more than USD $1 billion funds to restart of its business operations. OneWeb will look to resume operations as soon as possible and continue with progress towards providing global high-speed, low latency connectivity via its state-of-the-art satellite constellation. Bharti Airtel To Acquire Tata’s Money-Losing Mobile Unit For Nothing

Bharti Airtel Ltd is acquiring the Tata conglomerate consumer mobile business virtually free of charge in a deal that gives India’s top wireless player a major subscriber base boost, while stemming the bleed for Tata from a money-losing venture. Bharti Airtel will gain over 40 million customers from Tata Teleservices and a subsidiary along with airwaves the company's own on a “debt-free (and) cash-free” basis, according to a joint statement on Thursday, although Bharti Airtel will take on a “small portion” of Tata’s unpaid dues for its airwaves. Sunil Bharti Backed OneWeb To Build 15 Internet Satellites Per Week

Satellite internet Startup OneWeb Ltd plans to manufacture 15 satellites per week at a planned factory in Florida as part of its push to provide global high-speed internet access, company officials said on Tuesday. Backed by Richard Branson's Virgin Group and other well-known firms, OneWeb aims to supply internet services worldwide through a fleet of 700 or more satellites it expects to have in orbit and operating by the end of 2019. Construction of the Florida factory has not yet begun and OneWeb did not say when manufacturing would start.
