Google Uncovered Russia-Backed Ads on YouTube, Gmail : Source

Google has discovered Russian operatives spent tens of thousands of dollars on ads on its YouTube, Gmail and Google Search products in an effort to meddle in the 2016 U.S. presidential election, a person briefed on the company’s probe told Reuters on Monday. The ads do not appear to be from the same Kremlin-affiliated entity that bought ads on Facebook Inc, but may indicate a broader Russian online disinformation effort, according to the source, who was not authorized to discuss details of the confidential investigation by Alphabet Inc’s Google. Microsoft Corp said separately on Monday that it was looking at whether Russians bought U.S. election ads on its Bing search engine or other Microsoft-owned products and platforms. Google Launches Its “World’s Best Camera Smartphone “

Tech giant Google unveiled the second generation of its Pixel smartphone - Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL - which will be available in India from November 15 priced at Rs 61,000 onwards. The devices, which will compete in the premium segment with devices like Apples iPhone 8 and X as well as Samsungs Note 8, will be available in five other markets including the US, the UK and Australia. Google said that with Pixel, it has "created the world's best smartphone camera". "Pixel 2 is loaded with a better camera that not only lets you take great pictures but helps you understand the world around you; a battery that lasts all day; and an Assistant that helps you get more done," it said in a statement. Alphabet Inc's Google has finally forayed into the payments space, by launching its app 'Tez' exclusively in India on Android and iOS. The app is now available on Play Store and App store for the users to download. Google’s VP for Next Billion Users Caesar Sengupta launched the app at an event in New Delhi in the presence of Finance Minister Arun Jaitely. Unlike a digital wallet Tez is built on UPI that allows for payments directly via bank accounts. It allows the users to do financial transactions like sending money, receiving payments directly into their bank accounts.
