Delhi Based Startup Tpot Raises Seed Funding

New Delhi-based food-tech startup Tpot has raised undisclosed amount in seed funding from Ashish Gupta, Founder & Trustee of Ashoka University and Co-founder of Evalueserve. Using this fund, Tpot plans to expand its presence by taking its outlet count from 20 to over 50 by the end of the year. Also, the fund will be used in channelising the team expansion and on the ideation of introducing innovative products involving tea. “Our team has built a strong foundation in Delhi/NCR region. Having gained a good traction in Chai-Nashta segment of consumers here, we are confident to establish our brand presence in the other markets too,” said Robin Jha, Co-founder, and CEO of Tpot. First Indian Unicorn Startup is Going to Be Profitable in 2016

Indian restaurant search and food delivery service Zomato, one of only a handful of Indian start-ups to succeed abroad, said on Monday. It had broken even in key markets including India and is on track to make a profit as early as June next year. The result comes as Zomato seeks $200 million in funding, a source close to the group said, in an increasingly tough environment for start-ups. Uber announced on Wednesday that it’s delving further info into food delivery with its new UberEATS app, separating its food delivery from its ride-sharing service. The original UberEATS launched in Los Angeles last year, and has since moved into Toronto, New York City, Austin, Chicago, and Barcelona. It promised delivery in 10 minutes or less, but only operated during certain hours, which vary in the different locations, with a selection limited to just a couple of options.
