US Regulators Investigating Alibaba’s Financial Model

U.S. regulators are investigating Alibaba Group Holding Ltd's accounting practices to determine whether they violated federal laws, the Chinese e-commerce giant said, sending its shares tumbling nearly 7 percent on Wednesday. Alibaba said the Securities and Exchange Commission launched the investigation earlier this year. Questions about its growth rate and its relations with affiliated companies have dogged the firm for years. It was not immediately clear what prompted the SEC investigation. Alibaba said that it was cooperating with the authorities and that the SEC advised it the investigation should not be seen as an indication the company had violated federal securities laws. Justdial Profit Decline 25% in Q4

Local search engine Just Dial today reported 25.08 per cent decline in net profit at Rs 35.33 crore for the quarter ended March 31. The company had reported a net profit of Rs 47.16 crore in the corresponding quarter a year ago. Just Dial Ltds total income from operations grew 14.92 per cent to Rs 179.61 crore in the quarter under review as against Rs 156.28 crore in the year-ago period, it said in a BSE filing. Its overall expenses stood at Rs 143.02 crore, up 19.29 per cent as compared to Rs 119.89 crore in the third quarter of the previous fiscal. During the entire 2015-16 fiscal, the companys net profit stood at Rs 141.8 crore as against Rs 138.89 crore in the year-ago period. Net sales during 2015-16 fiscal grew to Rs 690.83 crore as against Rs 589.8 crore a year ago.

Jabong Narrows Down Gross Loss to 46.7 cr in 2015

Online lifestyle retailer Jabong has narrowed down its gross loss to Rs 46.7 crore for 2015 on the back of lower level of discounts. The gross loss of the company stood at Rs 159.5 crore in 2014, the company's parent Rocket Internet said in an investor presentation today. The company's net revenue rose 7.1 per cent to Rs 869.1 crore for the reported year compared with Rs 811.4 crore in 2014. "Gross profit margin improved by 14 pp (percentage point) driven by lower level of discounts," the company said. Bengaluru, 1st April 2016: Flipkart Ltd, India's leading E-commerce platform has acquired payments start-up PhonePe Internet Pvt. Ltd.. RENO(NEVADA): A drone has successfully delivered a package to a residential location in a Nevada town in what its maker and the state's governor said Friday was the first fully autonomous urban drone delivery in the U.S. Flirtey CEO Matt Sweeney said the six-rotor drone flew about a half-mile along a pre-programmed delivery route on March 10 and lowered the package outside a vacant residence in Hawthorne. The route was established using GPS. A pilot and visual observers were on standby during the flight but weren't needed, Sweeney said.
