TikTok sues US President Trump over banning its app

New York, 24th Aug 2020: Chinese short video platform TikTok suing Trump administration for banning its app service in the USA over national-security concerns. TikTok, owned by China's ByteDance said that it is not a national-security threat and that the government is acting without evidence or due process. The company filed suit Monday in federal court in California against the Commerce Department, President Donald Trump and Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross, saying that it sought to prevent the government from “impermissibly banning" TikTok. MakeMyTrip Takes Five Firms to Court for Using Deceptively Similar Names

India’s popular travel company MakeMyTrip has taken a strict action and taken five travel and tourism websites to court for allegedly using similar sounding names. These companies include MakeMyYatra, MakeMyJourney, Make My Happy Journey, Pick My Trip and Superb MyTrip. MakeMyTrip alleged that these companies are not only using "deceptively similar sounding names" but also, some of them have copied its logo as well. App-based car service provider Uber India has approached the Bombay High Court seeking Rs 12 crore in damages from taxi owners and drivers associations for harming its reputation and livelihood of drivers by protesting against the company. In its suit, Uber India Systems Pvt Ltd also sought an injunction restraining the defendants from stopping Uber drivers to work, alleging that they were being "verbally abused, physically assaulted and threatened". A lawyer today filed an application with MIDC police station in suburban Andheri, demanding registration of FIR for sexual harassment against Arunabh Kumar, founder of web entertainment firm The Viral Fever(TVF). A Brazillian Judge Sandra Regina Nostre Marques ordered the suspension of the Facebook Inc.’s Whatsapp service for 48 hours after WhatsApp declined twice to turn over data requested by the courts as part of a criminal case, the Sao Paulo Justice Court said in a statement. WhatsApp is the most-used app in Brazil. The recent survey showed 93 percent of the 2,000 people said they use the messenger. The second most used app is Facebook, with 79 percent. According to Local TV News, the criminal case involves a drug trafficker linked to one of Sao Paulo's most dangerous criminal gangs, the PCC, or First Command of the Capital.
