Razorpay India’s First Payment Gateway Launched UPI For Merchnats

Razorpay is India’s first payment gateway to launch Unified Payment Interface (UPI), for its 10,000+ merchants. The option will enable customers to make online payments via UPI in addition to netbanking, wallets and credit/debit cards. This will be the first large-scale rollout on the merchant side and does not require the addition of any code to start offering UPI payment options to their customers. All of Razorpay’s merchants will have access to receiving payments via UPI starting today. Facebook Inc's Instagram said on Thursday its advertising base more than doubled to exceed 500,000 in the last six months. Instagram, the popular picture-sharing app that uses Facebook's ad technology to target highly specific audiences, has gained traction as the preferred platform used by ad agencies for social media campaigns. The app, which has more than 500 million users, also said more than 1.5 million businesses had switched to its Business Tools program in the two months since its launch earlier this year. India Post Seeks Applications For Payments Bank CEO Post

Government today set into motion the process to select CEO for India Post Payments Bank (IPPB). IPPB has invited applications for the post of chief executive officer/managing director from eligible candidates, a public notice said. Last year, India Post has received in-principle approval from RBI and subsequently nod from the Cabinet for setting up IPPB. As per the notice, the candidate should be between 40-55 years, and a minimum 15 years of experience in financial services is mandatory. India Posts payments bank with 650 branches is expected to start functioning from September 2017. There are 1.54 lakh post offices, of which 1.39 lakh are rural ones. Indian Companies Foreign Investment Fell 84% in Aug at $399 Million

India Companies overseas direct investment fell 84 per cent to USD 399.06 million in August, data from RBI showed. Indian companies had made an investment of USD 2.47 billion in the markets abroad during the same period last year. Compare to July this year, direct investments in August were down by 82.6 per cent. The investments were in the form of issuance of guarantees (USD 97.14 million), loans (146.36 million) and equity (USD 155.56 million). Airtel Gets Payment From Jio For New PoIs; Start Joint Testing Now

Bharti Airtel, which has been engaged in an inter-connectivity tiff with Reliance Jio, today said it has received payment from the new entrant for additional points of interconnect, and sought Jio's cooperation for timely testing and commissioning of the network ports. Airtel said while interconnect agreement provides for a commissioning period of 90 days, the company will work towards releasing the points of interconnect or PoIs "well ahead" of the contractual obligation. The telecom operator said it has ensured there are no capacity constraints from its end. "We hope Jio will extend its full cooperation to ensure timely testing and commissioning of the PoIs," it said in a statement.
